Summary
Akari experiences her first Acqua Alta, when the seasonal high tides cause Aqua's canals to overflow. While Alicia attends the Undines' business meeting, Akari goes grocery shopping with Aria-shachou. But an unexpected rainstorm causes them both to seek refuge with Aika at Hime-ya. Then Akira, Aika's sempai, shows up and demands to know why Aika isn't practicing her rowing. The two of them somehow get into a big row when Aika compares Akira to Alicia, and Akira tells Aika that if she likes Alicia so much she should go to Aria Company. So Aika does just that.
Akari is taken aback, but Alicia doesn't take much convincing. Aika moves into Akari's room and makes fried rice for dinner. To everyone's surprise, Aika's a pretty good cook. Later, Aika explains to Akari that she had met Alicia years before when Alicia was still a trainee Undine who rescued Aika's shoe from the canal. Alicia gave Aika a ride in her gondola, and they bonded over hairstyles.
The next morning, Akira shows up to take Aika home. Aika refuses, of course. Akira gets into an argument with Alicia - well, Akira does all the yelling, and Alicia goes "Ara ara" pleasantly. Finally Akira announces a race between Akari and Aika. If Aika loses, she has to go back to Hime-ya. If she wins, she gets to do as she pleases. The two girls paddle off, and Akari is very confused.
In the middle of the "race", Aika makes a detour and Akari follows her. Aika goes into a bakery and comes out with a bag of Akira's favorite walnut pastries. Akari is confused and Aika says that the race doesn't matter anymore. As the two girls return to Aria Company Aika explains that of all the people at Hime-ya who treat her with deference, Akira is the only one who treats her like a regular person.
Back at Aria Company, Alicia and Akira are having tea, and Akira admits that Aika is a good girl who always does her best. Alicia says that Akira and Aika are really very much alike and Akira hotly denies it. Akari and Aika return and Akira demands to know what happened to the race. Aika hastily offers the walnut pastries and Akira declares "SAFE!!!" And they all sit down for tea and pastries.
